Let’s get right to it. Gospel Truth News
Houston, Gospel Truth Magazine and its
affiliates endorses Barack Obama for
the 2008 Democratic Nomination and
yes, President of the United States of
America. This endorsement is not only
for the change and vision Obama has
for this country as its President, but for
the change his campaign has already
brought about.
Never in my lifetime can I recall people
so in touch, involved and aware of the
political process – including myself. No
matter where you go, people are not
just talking, but they are describing what
they are doing. They are registering,
e-mailing, attending political rallies and
house parties, volunteering, educating,
donating and campaigning – many for
the first time in their lives. Now that’s
change that has already taken place.
There is also change in mind sets. No
longer are people content to allow fear
to determine their political views. Racial,
gender, and economic barriers have
been torn down in favor of a candidate’s
policies that create opportunity for all
who desire it. Political apathy has been
removed and people are no longer
allowing those who have claimed to be
their voice make up their minds for them.
This is not a race of popularity because
many traditional popular leaders and
activists have chosen not to support
Obama, but the people have never the
less. I really call that change.
Change is in the atmosphere. Passion,
compassion, comradeship, enthusiasm,
excitement, kindredness and hope are
just a few of the words that describe
the atmosphere that is felt and shared
by those who have attended rallies and
events in support of Obama. The good
thing is that all these emotions and more
are contagious. You get it, you spread it.
What’s more, all involved know that they
are part of history in the making.
Normally I keep my political views and
opinions to myself. Not this time! Too
much is at stake, we stand to lose so
much and gain so much all at the same
time. Affordable, quality health care
insurance for those who desire it is not
available. The human and financial cost
for the war in Iraq must be brought to
an end. For those who have worked
hard to participate in the American
dream of home ownership, that dream
must be protected and Americans must
be inspired and encouraged to actively
engage in the future of this country.
This issue of Gospel Truth News takes a
look at the man Obama, his campaign,
those who support him, and how &
why you should get involved. I want
to encourage each of you to exercise
your constitutional right to vote for the
candidate(s) of your choice. Visit the
websites of all of the candidates, learn
what they stand for, weigh the issues for
yourself and act on your decision.
And that is the Gospel Truth!
