Rev Timothy Wright, “The Godfather of Gospel” remains in critical condition on Monday after a crash that took the life of his wife, co-pastor Betty Wright and their 14-year-old grandson. Although unable to speak, he is responding with gestures, his family said.

The Grammy-nominated singer, known as the Godfather of Gospel was returning from a Church of God in Christ AIM annual conference in Detroit when a suspected drunk-driver hit his car on the evening of the 4^th of July.

Lewisburg, Pa., resident John Pick, 44, was driving the wrong way down I-80 and slammed into the Wright car. Beer cans were found in the car but it will not be known whether Pick was intoxicated until toxicology reports come back.

Rev. Timothy Wright's adult sons, in the midst of grieving for their Mother, son, and nephew, spoke to reporters at the family's home on Monday afternoon and stated that he does not know that his wife perished in the crash. He has been informed of his grandson’s passing. He will not be told of Mrs. Wright’s passing until his condition stabilizes.

Rev Wright is expected to survive, although he suffered numerous broken bones to include a broken jaw, legs, ankle, and ribs. He also suffered small neck fractures, but his spinal cord does not appear to have been affected. Please keep Rev and the family in prayer.
