 The New Orleans based Versatile Entertainment hosted Dr. Bobby Jones and The Word Network in a series of television tapings recently. Held March 27 - 29, 2008 in the Ernest Morial Convention Center, the event produced refreshed content for the popular network’s 2008 spring/summer season. Organized by Bishop Ryan D. Warner, a familiar face in gospel circles, the event was designed to bring inspiration to a city and its residents who still struggle for a sense of normalcy in the post-hurricane days now upon them.
“Since hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we fully understand the situation facing the survivors as they attempt to re-build their lives and decided that this was a positive vehicle to offer encouragement as we all move forward in our recuperation” states President & CEO Bishop Warner. “With a yearning in our heart and a desire to repair, heal, and nurture the hearts and soul of residents in the Gulf Coast region, Versatile Entertainment, Inc felt an immediate need to take action. Dr. Bobby Jones and The Word Network were more than willing to assist in our efforts” Bishop Warner continued.
The tapings were free and open to the public. On Friday, Versatile Entertainment arranged for bus loads of senior citizens to be a part of this unique event for the city. “This was so nice, and I got to see Dr. Bobby Jones! I watch him every Sunday!” exclaimed 78 year old Octavia Winslow, as she left the building to meet her bus.
The tapings were hosted by Dr. Jones along with his BET co-host, Merdean Fielding-Gales, Melvin Williams of the Williams Brothers, and Al “The Bishop” Hobbs of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. With upcoming ministries answering the call from across the nation, independent artists were joined by national ministries such as Z’iel, Melvin Williams, Terri McConnell, Tracy Worth, and Billy Rivers & The Angelic Voices of Faith, to name a few.
“New Orleans has always been one of my favorite cities” Dr. Jones shares. “We were extremely excited about this event and hope that it brought inspiration to the citizens who suffered in this devastating disaster. I’m sure you will enjoy all of the outstanding performances and do not want to miss a minute of the New Orleans show when it reaches the airways of The Word Network later this season.”

Dr. Bobby Jones is the host and executive producer of cable television's first and only national gospel program, Bobby Jones Gospel, which is seen weekly by more than five million viewers on the Black Entertainment Television network. Bobby Jones Gospel is the only BET show to air continuously for the past 26 years. An educator by profession Dr. Jones received his Bachelor‘s Degree from Tennessee State University at age 19. He received his Master's Degree from Tennessee State University and his Doctorate of education from Vanderbilt University. In 2006, Dr. Jones was officially named Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
