POLL: If McCain vs. Obama, 28% of Clinton Backers Go for McCain
PRINCETON, NJ -- A sizable proportion of Democrats would vote for John McCain next November if he is matched against the candidate they do not support for the Democratic nomination. This is particularly true for Hillary Clinton supporters, more than a quarter of whom currently say they would vote for McCain if Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.

MY PERSONAL OPINION: I don't believe this poll for a second - And it's not because I disbelieve the accuracy of the percentage points, but because I can't believe that in November, Democrats are actually going to:
1. Get in their car.
2. Drive to the polls
3. Stand in a long line.
4. Wait in that long line.
5. Finally get to the front of that long line (After an hour - Or two.)
6. Find their name on the poll-list paper.
7. Sign their name.
8. Walk up to the voting machine.
9. AND ACTUALLY VOTE *FOR* THE PRO-WAR REPUBLICAN WHO'S RUNNING FOR BUSH'S THIRD TERM *JUST* BECAUSE HILLARY (OR OBAMA) LOST THE DANG NOMINATION.

I honestly think the media is completely setting us all up for the inevitable "Hanging-Chad, Evangelical Christians-coming-out-in-droves JUST to vote for Dubya, New Bin Laden video (featuring Tupac)" justification/excuse for another Republican "win" when we ALL know that Florida 2000 *and* Ohio 2004 were both stolen.

And of course, people are gonna be upset for a while if their woman (or man) loses the Democratic Primary - And yes, I'm sure all the Democrats who said they'd vote for John McBomb in the Gallup Poll were merely venting their frustration at the thought of a loss - That's somehwat understandable - But at the same time, that will NOT translate into a "1 thru 9" situation in November - There's just too much at stake.
